On the Gibb River Road again and heading east towards Wyndham.
These wild rosellas were growing on the banks of the waterhole where we stopped for a cuppa on Day 9.
I know that they look the same as the commercial Rosella plant but it wasn't until I looked up Wikipedia that I found out it is exactly the same plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa), it just happens to be growing in the wild. Duh!!!!
They are an introduced species from West Africa and occur in the wild between Cairns in the east to Broome in the west.
Pretty image of these lovely wild flowers, love the detail and depth of field, I understand the syrup is said to be nice in a glass champagne or sparking wine:)
