Day 16 - Tilmouth Well & Aboriginal Art by terryliv

Day 16 - Tilmouth Well & Aboriginal Art

As part of the roadhouse at Tilmouth Well, there was an "art gallery" (a room with benches) for the local aboriginal artists to display and sell their work.
Rhoda and I have always loved Aboriginal art and some years ago, missed a golden opportunity to purchase some quality pieces at Lockhart River Mission on a trip to Cape York. This time we were hell bent on getting some and ended up with 5 pieces. Only showing four here. Each painting tells a story about daily aboriginal life.
They were just rolled up and I built frames and mounted them when we got home. They now hang in the house. See http://365project.org/terryliv/365/2015-02-21

Don't bother to comment - just telling a story.

We have now left the map at http://365project.org/terryliv/from-the-archiv/2015-01-07 showing our tour up to the start of Day 15.

So fun to study! Even though they are all different, there is a distinct common style to them.

I like aboriginal art because of the vibrant colours they use. These are really nice pieces. The one you have hung over the TV look just great in that setting.
