Still Life with Roses

We went back to the Gisborne market on the weekend and I brought home some of the roses that I saw up there last time we were there. I haven't done much with my light box lately so decided to play with my new roses. I think it looks a bit too stark but I'm not sure. Opinions?

Not stark at all in my opinion. The soft colour of the bucket helps, but (and I hesitate to suggest it) I'd like to see a tighter crop.

Because you have used real roses it is lovely! One would not be wanting to use artificial roses! Like the white background however you did this!

@swilde Never hesitate to suggest anything! I appreciate it when people make suggestions. I did crop this a bit from the original but was worried about cropping too tight. I'll try a tighter crop later and maybe post it in my extras album. It's hard to see where the photo stops on this view on my screen anyway. LOL!

@maggiemae Shhh! don't tell anyone but they AREN'T real roses. They are made of shaved wood and they are just amazing. I love them!

i like the starkness... i think this is high key? anyway, the vibrant colours of the roses, and their gorgeous tips look wonderful with that white background!
