Wippee - it's rained!!

This is the week for a free choice in The Darkroom. I've tried to use this photo of an emerging Bat Plant flower to learn some ideas about Balance in images.
Please don't bother reading the rest -it's just a reminder for me for later on (after I've conveniently forgotten it all!)
Cheers Rob @robz

Asymmetrical balance creates tension through contrast and as such is visually interesting. Because it’s abstract, there is no symmetry; there are no perfect mirror images. Instead, elements of different visual weights are arranged in such a way that each side is still balanced out. The “heavier” elements will jump forward and catch the eye more than the “lighter” ones, which will recede.
This type of balance feels casual, free, and energetic. To equalize the weight throughout the image different factors which affect visual weight can be used, eg:
• Texture: Objects with texture appear three-dimensional and feel physically heavier than objects without texture. eg centre and bottom right
• Size: Large items seem heavier than small ones.eg centre and bottom right
• Isolation: An item by itself is more eye-catching than an item that’s one of many. eg centre and top right
• Dark items feel heavier than light items.eg left
Wow!
