Day 363 by thendrix58

Day 363

This is a 1" feather that my sister gave me for good luck a couple of years ago. I used a macro extension tube since I don't have a "real" macro lens. My eyes hurt a little after taking this one!
It is good luck to have a wonderful sister! (And a blessing!)

That background is so good with this to define the individual parts of the the feather!

@nana2r Oh my goodness, Carren, you are so right. You'd LOVE HER!

@maggiemae That background is just a piece of black poster board! The feather is white but the original came out a little yellow so I used the Black & White setting on iPhoto. One thing I've notice w/macro is that if there's any dust around, it shows up! In other words, I need to do more dusting! HAHAAH!

Lovely b&w!

Wonderful detail.

Beautiful macro shot.
December 31st, 2012
@newbie Thank you, Stacey! I wouldn't have noticed the detail on this little feather w/out the extension tube!
@henrir I appreciate the compliment, Henri! :)

@thendrix58 I am thinking of getting some as they are fairly inexpensive. What did you buy? Any suggestions?
December 31st, 2012
@newbie Well, I may not be the best person to ask because I truly don't know much about them. I googled and found that yes, they're inexpensive so I sort of did an "eeny meeny miney mo" thing and bought a Fotodiox brand ($12-15) just to see what it was about. Well, the first thing I learned is that you don't have complete control of your camera w/all of it's settings. I heard that the Kenko(?) brand is good but it's the real deal and around $200. Honestly, the first thing on my wish list is a true macro lens. But for now, the extension tube I have was cheap but it's pretty effective! Oh and I got it from good ole Amazon. :)

@thendrix58 Thanks !

Gorgeous, I seem to have missed a load of your shots... Best I catch up :)
January 4th, 2013
@sugarmuser This one wasn't one of my favorites because it gave me an AWFUL HEADACHE! But I'm thrilled you liked it! HAHAHA! Cracking myself up that even though my eyeballs almost popped out from the strain of taking this one, just to know that you and anyone else liked it, made it worthwhile! LOL!!! Love y'all for that!
January 4th, 2013
@thendrix58 haha.. So i am not the only one that gets eye strain from close up focusing :)
January 4th, 2013
@sugarmuser Oh no, you're not alone. And it's miserable! Not even Advil can make it go away. Just an eye pack and a dark room!
