Day 364 by thendrix58

Day 364

I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE! It's my very first oil close-up! The color is compliments of my favorite and obviously colorful summer dress! When I saw this, I literally jumped up and down like a kid who won a prize!!! SO HAPPY!!!
So you put your favourite summer dress here and dripped oil all over it! I have seen the idea but never tried it! Every experiment has to be different depending on their clothes! This is really wonderful!

Very pretty! But I'm not sure how you did it.

@maggiemae @nana2r IT'S SO EASY! I you-tubed "photography experiments." This one is called "Cooking Oil Close-Up Photography" by Bryan Peterson. You fill a small clear casserole dish with water and add a few drops of cooking oil (swirl it around). Suspend the dish onto 2 tall cups (I used paint cans--haha!) Put a colorful piece of material (he used the craziest LOUD shirt I've ever seen) under it. He had his tripod suspended over the dish using a macro lens and had it set on f11 and 1/500. Focus and click away. I didn't have a tripod but am still happy w/the result! Think of all of the colorful possibilities!

@vaugdds Yes, it was! And I'm leaving the "set-up" so I can play with it again tomorrow! The guy on the video (where I learned this) said, "You may never leave your house when you try this!" This may be my new addiction! HAHAH!
December 30th, 2012

@kwind Thank you for the fav! ( I get so excited about those - I have to confess!) This was so easy and you don't really need a tripod - just a cool, bright colorful ANYTHING underneath the dish to make it happen!
