The story of the house... by thewatersphotos

The story of the house...

For several years our family has rented homes through VRBO.com. It has always been an adventure and we have stayed in wonderful and sometimes interesting places.
Christmas 2016 found us in this house in Penrose, NC. It is a renovated farm house and was beautifully decorated. We were very fortunate in this house to meet the builder, who told us the history of the house and the farm. As they were renovating neighbors would come by and share stories about the family who lived here and memories of things that went on here. We also got a chance to meet the current owner who came to be sure the cows got back in the pasture (that's another story).
I think the fun and interest in staying in houses when we travel is to explore the culture and lifestyle of the local surroundings. This one was really great!
Looks like a beautiful area.

The detail of the fence dominating the picture makes me wonder what other story you need to tell us.

Beautiful shot.

Fantastic pic! Great to learn the stories behind the images. I live in a heavily populated area, and it's always nice to see shots of a much more quite and peaceful lifestyle.

Looks really lovely. All that space and seemingly no other building in site - bliss 😊

fun and strange at the same time (to stay in someone's house while they come and visit the cows)

Nice shot. Sometimes the stories behind the photo really makes the shot!

A nice shot. I'll bet the view was nice as it appears the house is on a hill or knoll.

We have done some of this also (vacation house rental). Stayed at a wonderful house in Tennessee with a great mountain view. Your scene looks so idyllic!

@francoise Well, they don't "live" there, they just rent the house to folks like us for vacation. They "do" use the property around the house, though.

@special4k Agre, Greg. I often have questions of the photographer about their shots. This community makes a great place to have the freedom to "ask"!

Nice capture, I like the sun spots/lens flare in the corner of this shot. It looks to be in quite a remote area, I bet it was nice and peaceful.
