Back porch...

This is an obvious addition to the house. The enclosed part on the left of the photo was a "kitchen" of sorts. Again, you can see straight through the house, this time from the back door.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the old "dog trot" house on the highway near us. It was so neat looking - think it finally fell in some 20 years ago, but know it was from the early 1900's. Find old houses interesting

My old house is slightly newer than this one. The original porch was enclosed and an addition put on, then the back porch was enclosed and made into a bathroom and laundry area.

@milaniet That is why I stopped when I saw folks cleaning this house. With them there, I could ask permission to go inside and walk around. This house had TWO rooms and that dog trot where a family stayed. I am fascinated by abandoned houses and cannot imagine just leaving one.

@randystreat Yep! That is what folks did, just add on. Our house and my wife's house both had multiple "add ons" to accommodate a growing family.
