I have a lot of these, too. I used to think it was a moth, but a neighbor thought it was a Meadow Brown butterfly. Nice shot.

Meadow Browns (Maniola jurtina) have a prominent eyespot on the upper side of the forewings, but they are not native to the U.S. and I presume this photo was taken “at home” (in the U.S.).
