Passion fruit... by thewatersphotos

Passion fruit...

Our "field" is a hay field, intended to produce hay, and it does. But there are random "other things" growing there, as well. There is a rather hearty Maypop, aka purple passionflower (passiflora incarnata), growing in the field. It has actually produced some maypops, which some folks use to make jelly.
The flowers are very intricate!

Beautiful flower. When the hay is harvested do all these other things get mowed down?

@brokenbird @rhoing Thanks to both of you for noticing the visitor. I sent the photo to my entomology brother in law. He sent back, "It's an insect I am pretty sure. Need to see it under a scope". Needless to say that bug is long gone!
