Our "field" is a hay field, intended to produce hay, and it does. But there are random "other things" growing there, as well. There is a rather hearty Maypop, aka purple passionflower (passiflora incarnata), growing in the field. It has actually produced some maypops, which some folks use to make jelly.
The flowers are very intricate!
@brokenbird@rhoing Thanks to both of you for noticing the visitor. I sent the photo to my entomology brother in law. He sent back, "It's an insect I am pretty sure. Need to see it under a scope". Needless to say that bug is long gone!
