Just riding down the road... by thewatersphotos

Just riding down the road...

We live in a rural setting. As I was driving to town I noticed a gentleman riding this horse on the side of the road. I stopped, told him I was a photography and asked if I could take their picture. "Sure!", he said. We talked while I snapped photos. It turns out he trains horses for others to ride in rodeos, mainly Barrel Racing. We exchanged phone numbers so I can see him training.
I always love photos of horses, you captured this one's spirit quite nicely.

Very cool! Good for you for asking. I have been tempted a few times to ask people about taking photos, but I am very much an introvert and so far is has not happened.

Your willingness to ask him got you a great photo. He probably thought he would also be in the pic. Beautiful shot of the horse.

I like the way the horse is holding his head up - tall and proud. Nice tones in this portrait.

Awesome Gary. I would not have the nerve to stop and ask to take the shot. I'd probably just have to shoot the backend as they walk away. This angle is so much better. :)

@theredcamera Thanks so much, Ellen! I don't photograph horses often so it was fun to see this one and have the rider be so agreeable.

@rwaterhouse Thanks, Roger. I, too, think of myself as an introvert, but find it easier to speak up when my camera is in hand. : - )

@k9photo Thanks, Kate. That was my hope.

@novab Ha! Thank you, Nova! (By the way...is that your real name? I know you live in Nova Scotia and assume this is a "nom de plume".) With camera in hand, it is easier.

@pattyblue Thank you!

@thewatersphotos yes, it’s real and so am I. 🤓 I think you are the first one here to ask and that’s okay with me.
