A Female Watermelon bloom... by thewatersphotos

A Female Watermelon bloom...

I went to visit one of my nephews today to get squash (he also gave me onions and beets). While there we went on a tour of his HUGE garden! Here he is showing me a female watermelon bloom. Notice the tiny watermelon below the bloom. The male bloom does not have the tiny watermelon. Bees must cross pollinate the blooms to make the watermelon grow.
I love this showing how small it is.

His crops are early! This is a nice photo to give perspective to early (compared to edible) watermelons.
