This morning I went to Beaver Lake at Pocahontas State Park because it was a perfect morning to be at one of my favorite places...the temperature is finally down below body temperature and the humidity is less than 50% - both of these for the first time in months.
When I got there I saw a Great Egret (Ardea alba) searching for food in the lake. I watched it for a while and it took off, flew around a couple of times, then landed on a semi-submerged log. In this shot it looks like it is accepting the applause of the crowd for sticking the landing.
