Light Pierces Darkness by timerskine

Light Pierces Darkness

My Get Pushed challenge for this week was "go through your "favourites album" and choose a photo, explain what draws you to it, and replicate that. Now, you do not need to replicate the photo, per say. If it was the bokeh you liked, please give us bokeh. If it was the depth of field, try to duplicate that, or if it was the subject matter, then all means, shoot the same subject! Please include the link to your favourite as well as the explanation of what you like about it."

The picture in my Favorites/Favourites Album is by Kane Arlow (picture in the comments). It is a cityscape at night. I have always liked these from two viewpoints. First, artistically, in the way the long-exposure headlights and taillights of moving vehicles draw the viewer's eye (also, to be frank, most urban areas just look better at night). Second, a bit more philosophically, in viewing well-lit cities I can't help think about what life was like before electricity or gas lamps lighting streets. Danger and evils lurked about outside under the cover of darkness. We modern folk can now easily vanquish the cloak of darkness with the flip of a switch and provide ourselves a steady, reassuring stream of illumination and a measure of safety.

About this picture: I took this a few minutes before sunrise. From Richmond's Libbie Hill overlooking East Broad Street and the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood. This view is to the northwest, where the sky is just beginning to lighten - nautical twilight. The eastern sky's dawn light is being reflected in the windows of the taller buildings. I was fortunate that there was a burst of traffic at just the right time to get the light trails that I did. By the time the traffic got steady with people heading to work the sun was up.
For some reason, the embed code from the inspiration picture from @karlow75 isn't showing up in these comments. So here's the URL: https://365project.org/karlow75/365/2020-07-31

Tim - this is awesome! You have re-created his work amazingly ... and maybe even out=performed him!
He is an amazing photographer. Really too bad that he does not post often!
A FAV, BTW!
