Screaming Eagle

The only way in and out of the Dutch Gap Conservation Area is a road that cuts through the Chesterfield Power Station. As the Missus and I were leaving I saw a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) on one of the high tension line towers coming out of the power plant. I did a U-turn to get where the light would be better for a picture and as I did, another joined it.

I got out with my camera and realized that they were both chattering...and they were not alone. Other chattering voices drew my attention to two more eagles above and behind me. As I realized this, they both landed on a tower that was even closer to where we were. This is a shot of that second pair.

The two pair were about 100 yards (93m) apart. I don't know if it was a territorial thing or if they were just catching up on gossip, but they all had a lot to say. Of the close pair, the one on the bottom had the most to say and here it seems to making a point with extreme emphasis.
Oh what a fantastic capture!
