About a mile from my house there is a large beaver pond caused by beavers damming the Great Branch Creek. From the looks of things, the beavers left this pond a long time before we moved to Virginia, three years ago. Despite the absence of beavers, their work lives on and the pond is thriving.
Today, the Missus and I were were running errands when we drove past the beaver pond. I spotted a great scene of reflections in the still waters of the pond, turned around, found a place to park, and walked along the road to get a shot.
As I was looking for different views, a flock of wood ducks took off from behind some reeds. Since I set up my camera for the landscape, most of my shots of the surprise, fast-flying ducks were indistinguishable blurs, but this one was OK.
