USS Ford by timerskine

USS Ford

It was a cold and windy day at Fort Monroe where the Missus and I were waiting to see the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) set off on its first deployment.

Here it is, 100,000 tons of diplomacy, rounding the bend from the Elizabeth River, heading out to the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Unbelievable feats of engineering. Man was able to create a 100,000 ton vessel that floats.
