Insect and Celtic Cross by tinley23

Insect and Celtic Cross

It took a bit of digging to find some info on this granite sculpture at a local railway station, but I did find this:

‘In this sculpture Ronald Rae tackles subjects dear to him. On one side the cross relates to his Celtic roots. On the other side, one of the smallest forms of life, the insect, is presented just as large to show respect for life no matter how insignificant it might seem.’

I think it’s rather lovely, though I couldn’t see the cross due to the bushes.
I see the bug now! Interesting thank you for finding out about it

I watched a couple of YouTube clips regarding this sculpturer. What an interesting man. I just love his enthusiasm and passion for granite.

it's sad when something that was commissioned becomes anonymous and overgrown - good recovery :-)

I love this! Too bad you couldn't see the other side. It is so special that you would think someone would clear the bushes away. Great find and capture.
