My daughter and I went and had a look at the Pialligo Redwood Forrest this morning. I have lived in or near Canberra nearly all my life and until recently I never knew this exhisted.

The forrest is a product of Walter Burley Griffin's vision for the landscape surrounding the National Capital. The redwood trees were planted in 1918 and 3000 trees from the original planting of 122 000 have survived to this day. It is Australia's largest stand of redwoods and is registered on the Commonwealth Heritage list.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of trees that are dead, walking around I could imagine how incredible a place it would be full of these magnificent trees all healthy :)

I didn't know this existed either. Great find. Is it near Pialligo/the airport? Great shot also.

Great spots can often be close to home and we don't know they are there, lovely shot, must put it on my 'to do' list if I get to Canberra again.
