Paddy and myself walked down the canal toe path this morning and got this shot of the lock gates. A canal boat had just gone through, if you view large you can just see it, its blue and red.
I used to have one of these not far from where I lived, Its called Swarkstone Lock. I don't know if you know the area or not. Fascinating things, I used to sunbathe down there during the six weeks holidays watching the Barges go through all day.
I really like the symmetry of the locks, if you had stood dead centre you may have got that Barge in the opening on the middle of the last gate, that would of been a superb perspective from my point of view.
Lovely, green and pleasant land. I spend a lot of time lurking next to the canal with my camera (getting lots of odd looks from dog walkers, maybe I would feel less conspicuous with a dog!) looking for photo opps.
I love the contrast of green and white and the deep green of the grass and trees. Recently you talked about how dry it was but this photo exudes in an abundance of moisture. Can vision this photo as a painting.
@doblaine Yes David we have had lots of rain, in fact just topside of the locks all the fields are flooded. But the hose pipe ban is still on. Thanks for your comment
