@kiwiflora I've just realised I was meaning the Laughing Owl! It is now extinct but the Little Owl is widespread though I have never seen one down here!

@maggiemae My husband is extremely good at mimicking bird calls. We were visiting the Bot Gardens and he had read that they were present there. Did his call, and was immediately answered! Took us a while to spot it, up high in one of the huge trees.
