One of the oldest national parks in South-east Europe and the largest national park in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes (Plitvicka Jezera) National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
The exceptional natural beauty of Plitvice attracts so many tourists that it's advisable to spend the night at the nearby hotel and visit the park right after breakfast, before the tour buses arrive.
The other alternative is to hang the picture on your wall and enjoy the scene without the crowds.
