Bird on a Rope

We went down to the bayfront this afternoon. It was sprinkling when we got there. We came across this bird sitting on the rope. I got a photo of him with a small fish in his mouth, but the fish was blurred. I opted to stay and watch a little longer. He would point his beak towards the water and stretch its legs downward. It was quite amusing to watch.
UPDATE: This is a green heron.
