After a sleepless night, schools are closed to road closures and flooding. All around town, roads are washed out and cars submerged in water. We walked out to this bridge over the creek down the road from our house. While we stood there watching the water flow across the road, a lady stops. She was contemplating crossing through the flood waters. I casually started a conversation and asked her where she was going. She replied, "to the mall….this was the only road open." (there is no mall near our house I told her.) As she sat in her car, I pointed to the woods at a car that was swept from the road by the floodwaters earlier. She finally turned around.
@spock Our town was hit and made national news two days in a row. One for the weather and one for an explosion at the jail. We do have hurricanes here that come up through the Gulf of Mexico. The storm on Tuesday night was severe thunderstorms and flooding. Roads have been washed out and cars are in random places along the highways. The big car lots, had big X's on cars that were flooded from the storm.
