QCWA organised a fashion parade on Saturday afternoon and one of the models, (all local residents) gave a special twirl for my camera.
The Country Women's Association was formed in Queensland in 1922 for women who earned their living from the land. Although membership rules were later changed to allow all Queensland women membership, the objectives of the organisation haven't - to support women and children, to be active in the local community and to promote friendship and understanding. I have followed my Mother and Grandmother into the local branch of the organisation. One of the educational activities we undertake each year is to study another country. A few years ago we studied Malta. This year Chile is our country of study. Any Chilean members of 365Project out there?
@mgozzard yes I've been going to CWA since childhood. It is a pity numbers are dropping away and members growing old. However we have two young mum's who have joined this year and we are trying to provide activities that they can enjoy. They paraded and had their children parade as well and I think they really enjoyed the day.
@http365proj Yes...the fashions ranged from very rural to dress up and I think the young mums really enjoyed this dresses section...not a lot of events call for dressing up with hats and all in our neck of the woods.
@pawar_ramesh We have not studied India but the Associated Country Women of the World are meeting in Chennai India next year from the 26th September to the 2nd October. So we will be hearing more of your country during 2013
