Poor little hen. She has sat patiently on her eggs for the past 28 days to no avail. We removed her from the nest this morning and now she's wandering forlornly around peeping softly. I believe she was responsible for her own demise. For a few days before she began to sit permanently she stayed around the nest all day but returned to the flock to roost at night. Maybe she ruined the eggs then but as we are both new to this process all we can do is learn from our experiences.
Poor gal! I'm no expert, but I do remember asking my friend who raised chickens if shoe was worried about having so many chicks when "the ladies" produced so many eggs. And she chuckled when she explained that it is the same for a woman- just because we produce an egg, it doesn't necessarily mean there will be a baby- the daddy has to help out with that! So maybe these eggs weren't fertile. However- I could not tell how to make them fertile but I'm sure there's information on line somewhere or a book on the subject. It will be an adventure to find out, I'm sure! Good shot.
A sad story but in nature it`s happen all the time. Try again , I would say (to her). Beautiful pic of her head. well captured .
