Waiting

Lorikeets waiting for us to finish cattle work so they can drop on to the open-topped yard tank for a drink. The bright coloured ones are Rainbow Lorikeets and the little green one, preening while they wait, are Scaly-breasted Lorikeets. They are our only lorikeet with a pure green head. Thus their common name, Greenie.

I can't even imagine how exciting it must be to be visited by these birds. I've admired them in the Albuquerque Zoo, but to see them in the wild must be a thrill.
