T is for Triptych

Feeling isolated. We made it through Marcia and out the other side with little damage...just a big tree down in the front yard, no power, no phone, and flood bound. A neighbour has lent us a generator so while it's running to hold the fridge and freezer I'm taking the chance to talk to the outside world. There is so much damage to the power supply in the region we could be days without power and as the flood waters recede up here they fill the Awoonga Dam which is already at 107%capacity. This cuts our northern exit to the valley for several days until the overflow escapes ( but that is another issue). I'll just have to sit back an enjoy the beautiful, clear blue skies and butterflies that are filling the garden. Thanks to all for your concern. Most comforting.
This still sounds precarious, but I'm glad you're coping well with such a calm attitude and that it wasn't worse. Your photos illustrate the story well.

I'm glad you didn't have much damage! Great to have a generator, too. I hope all the animals are ok, too.

Fantastic. We were watching for news from you all yesterday Margaret and figured that you would be without power. Nice to see you got your priorities right and hooked up to the internet. Anyway, think of all that green grass for the next 6 months.

@epcello All our animals were fine. Unfortunately not so for my brother-in-law. He had cattle locked in a yard to keep them above the floodwaters and a huge gum tree that for years has provided shade for the yards gave in to the wind and fell and killed 6 head and injured many more. Some times you just can't win.

It has been a bad one, hasn't it! Hope your freezer is full and you have plenty of wine to sit and wait for the electricity to come back on! Good photo on the right!

Good to hear you are okay. Hope the power isn't off for too long. I don't know where you live, but I have a friend in Rockhampton and luckily although they have no power their house has survived with minimal damage.

@onewing we care 1.5 hours drive south of Rockhampton. Fortunately for us it had spent most of its energy by the time it went over us. The pictures coming out of Rocky today show how lucky your friend was. And Byfield is a mess.

Great collage of your weather conditions, don't think I would risk that water.

Glad you made it through, Margaret. Weather can be so scary.

I can sympathize- we were hit pretty hard by Hurricane Sandy when she blew up the eastern seacoast. No power for a week, but thanks to friends and neighbors with generators, we managed. Hang in there- and enjoy the butterflies!
