Grey Fantail by ubobohobo

Grey Fantail

After using a filler yesterday to celebrate Kb's birthday, I just had to get out today and find something to photograph and I'm very glad I did. I caught my first grey fantail on camera. They are not a common bird in our area. It was very obliging and put on a great show for me - flipping the dog, playing in the bird bath and perching on high to seek out insects in the late afternoon sunshine. I was quite amused by the little snap of its beak as each one met its untimely end. It had a real feast to end the day.
Dear little bird - don't think we have this variety but the fantails we do have have the same friendly character! Super to see this one in good light!

It must at times fan out its tail to have this name, I imagine.

He's lovely - got me thinking about convergent evolution as he's very similar to our long tailed tits and I don't think they migrate.
