Cyclone Debbie is presently lashing the Whitsunday Islands and we are watching the rain band associated with it slowly move towards us. We're hoping for some flood rain to fill our creeks and rivers and restore underground water supplies. The associated wind can happily pass us by.
Keep your fingers crossed Margaret. Everyone always focuses on the potential downside of cyclones but I think that as a general rule, the long term benefits to the rural communities outweigh the short term costs.
