This unusual cloud formation intrigued locals this morning and with another major rain event forecast for tomorrow all were wondering what lies ahead. I certainly wouldn't welcome a second major flood event so soon after cyclone Debbie. We sit on the southern limits of this forecast event so here's hoping.
They are altocumulus floccus clouds that form between cold and warm fronts and the wispy "tails" are called virga clouds and are actually precipitation that refreezes to form a new clouds before it can reach the lower layers of the atmosphere.
