Cattle too are totally dependent on us. We do what we call a "meals on wheels" run 2 - 3 times a week. We've reduced the herd by two thirds and rationed hay down to a survival ration. It is becoming very expensive and difficult to source. Here comes today's meal!
I can see that they aren’t as in good condition as they normally are....they will be grateful for that food supplement, certainly nothing growing. I pray it rains soon.
@dide Absolutely dreadful. Our ration held them at this level for 7 months. Then when the rain began on Christmas night and the grass slowly came back with each rain period in January they exploded back to good health and look much better now.
@merrelyn@happypat@ethelperry 2019 is a year I'd rather forget but we pulled through just like this herd. This was our worst paddock. It just never rained. But all is green again and they just received another drenching last night. The paddock is slowly turning green again and meals on wheels has stopped delivery. What a relief.
