Lock boxes in the vault of the Chicago Board of Trade building.
Late yesterday I found out that Chicago hosts an architectural open house every year. 150 buildings open their doors to the public to see places that we mere mortals cannot normally go. The open house was this weekend. I had some other plans for today, but I made sure I stopped by a few places.
At the end of the day I was a little frustrated as I had to delete two thirds of the shots I had taken. Partially due to my inexperience and partially due to my little old rebel, between the two of us we struggle mightily in low light, but it was still a great day and I hope when this weekend rolls around again next year I will have upgraded my camera and my skills will be one year better also.
Looks like the old fashioned mailboxes we used to have at school or at the post office. I struggle mightily in low light, too. I like the regularity of the shapes and lines, the alternating open & shot doors and the figure 8 of the double key locks.
I really like this, especially in b&w. I missed it. Last year I hosted an event with the Madison Photography Meetup group. Three of us went, including a former 365er. We met up with Taffy, and toured several buildings and then went to dinner at a deli, and then the three of us, plus two more friends of Taffy's went on to shoot Buckingham Fountain. Taffy had prior commitments for the evening. any chance you can give me a heads up about two months before the next one?
@bill_fe I sure can! I have added myself to the CAF mailing list so I will not be caught unawares again. I am already looking forward to next year and plan to do a neighborhood (possibly Ukrainian Village or Pilsen) one day and downtown the next. I had very limited time this year so am eager to plan ahead (in this case very ahead) for next year.
