Adios Awilda! by ukandie1

Adios Awilda!

We Chicagoan's have grown to expect Jaume Plensa's giant head named "Looking into my dreams Awilda" to be a permanent exhibit in Millennium Park, but it is not to be...she is on her way to Miami, and before she was here in Chicago she was in the water off of a beach in Brazil.

So you Floridians out there in 365 land look out for her and tag me in any shots, she became part of our skyline here in Chicago, which is not an easy thing to do considering the competition she had.

Obviously best on black!!!
wow - how interesting - thank you for sharing Andie

Chicagoans (is that right?) will miss such an imposing piece... Mr Google tells me that the sculpture is 39 ft high - your picture shows her off perfectly.

No, really? It's leaving????? So sad . . .

Your capture makes it seem that the daydreams of Miami and warmth must be in mind.

Wonderful capture of the disappeared head! I love the dark tones -- great low-key b&w.

@jyokota She has already gone! I was on Michigan Ave last week and all that remains of her is the plinth she stood on, the space felt bare without her. I am intrigued to see how they present her in Miami (that is where they say she is going)? Obviously it will not be as great as here in Chicago :)
