I am not sure what the temperature was when we went for our traditional Christmas Day walk, but suffice to say it was a tad chilly somewhere between 10 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit with a brisk breeze. It is a tradition I have forced on my family, and though they all roll their eyes at me when I bully them out the door, we always have fun. Though on days like yesterday the walk is somewhat short!
Always out of my comfort zone when taking portraits, and have to say this was more of a snap shot than anything with thought, as I could barely feel my fingers!
I just purchased a stock image for a dentist ad for New Years and this was the type of shot I was looking for. The only piece of advice I'd give is to not have the scarf covering the girls teeth, but that's only because I needed the shot with a nice smile and I wouldn't want anything to cover up her mouth. GREAT JOB!!! Especially since you were practicing portraits and out of your comfort zone :-)
@dawn_g4g thank you for the feed back Dawn, it makes perfect sense now that you have said it, but not something that even crossed my mind before. So really appreciate the comment!
@ukandie1 No problem... great job!!! And glad you didn't freeze your fingers off getting it! But you know what, if I saw this photo on a stock photo site, I could work around the scarf, so it's not a make it or break it thing.
I have an idea of the cold. After it left Illinois it made its way to Pennsylvania and it has been brutal. Of course, we got spoiled after three mild winters in a row.
@skipt07 Same here about being spoiled by three mild winters in a row, but I have to admit that I am rather excited by our cold blast, that got a whole lot colder today, it was -2 when I took my dog for a walk this morning . I am hoping that the cold snap will last and the lakefront and river will freeze, there is great beauty in it when it happens!
@northy there comes a point where cold is just cold! Even my dog did not really want to go for a walk this morning, as soon as he did his business he turned around and pulled to go home...obviously I did not object :)
frigidly cold here too... although i think your -2F is colder than -16C... yikes!!!!
