This was taken in the vault of the Chicago Board of Trade Building when @taffy and I were on a tour of the building. Taffy and I both agreed it was one of the best CAF tours that we have taken so far. The docent who led the tour was a retired trader who not only had a great love of architecture but also peppered the tour with his personal insights.
Unfortunately I did not realize until I got home and took some pics of my dog that my camera was on manual focus so I did not have as many in focus shots as I would have liked. I have all of my beeps turned off and was using it to zone focus for some street photography before meeting up with Taffy ...message to self check your settings when you move from one genre to another, and when chimping put on my glasses!!!
Very effective scene that really captures the sheen as we were in there in the dark. I like the closeup with those 'eyes' looking at us! Missed you at the zoo today, where I just discovered tonight, I took all my photos in .jpg instead of RAW. UGH! Processing definitely more challenging! Good lesson -- check settings before taking a full afternoon of photos!
Thank you so much @jyokota I went down a bit of a worm hole learning about split toning, taking different notes from different sites.I will try and find the more informative ones and send them to you. It is always fun to learn and try new techniques!
@taffy glad you made it to the zoo, and also feel better knowing that I am not the only one who fell foul to not checking all settings before heading out :)
I'll echo the 'check settings' chorus too. @taffy Check your Exposure Compensation too, I've goofed bigtime with this one as well as the others mentioned. Life is a learning process. Absolutely fab shot of the safe-deposit boxes in this wonderful place. Whatever you've used to process this shot has made it into something quite special IMHO. I'd love to know more about split toning too please.
Light, composition and processing perfection! Love your street work of course Andie, but its good to see your talents applied to something different. Very strong image, Fav
