This summer marks the 10th anniversary of moving into our current home. These tulips have grown out of the gravel path next to our shed since moving here. I never understood why they are there or how they continue to flower under the neglect, but here they are, against the odds, yet again. I chose the isolated color to amplify the gray gravel they grow from. The improbability inspires me and speaks to the concept of beauty/mystery stemming from difficult circumstances.
Bulb plants are great. You can pretty much toss them into the ground and forget about them. I like your concept and the execution. Hooray for tulips and rising above difficulties!
@olivetreeann I agree, but tulips in particular have a very spotty record in my yard. I'm pretty sure the squirrel/chipmunks/some other rodent eats them. I think growing out of gravel is the reason they have stayed so long!
