split

014/365 Back to my instrument collection. When I lived in Japan, I picked up the bamboo flute called "shakuhachi." Absolutely gorgeous, haunting, meditative instrument to listen to and play. I was pretty into it, so I bought one at a flea market, complete with case and a bunch of sheet music. (Check out the crazy "notations" - definitely need a refresher on reading it!) Returning to the harsh, dry midwestern winters, it split right down the middle. Sadness. I rather hate seeing it, but am considering giving it another go with one made in the States and properly bound to handle the humidity shifts.
What a fascinating story! I can't imagine how crushing that would have been! Better luck with the next one!
