As promised...this is the photo from yesterdays negative.
It's 1987...I'm 17 and on my first photo shoot for the band Extensions ( they made it big from 1987-1989.) I had no idea what I was doing as I was working in a professional printing lab at the time and doing photography part-time. The guy's in the band were heavy rock ( think Guns n Roses.) trying to break into the Australian music scene...they only lasted the two years before the music scene spat them out...that's life in the music industry. A few of the photo's from this shoot made it into Heavy Metal Magazine ( Australian edition.)
I did my own developing of this photo in my little homemade lab.
Thank's for taking a walk down memory lane with me. ;) Forgot to add...this is the lead guitarist from the group...I'll post another photo tomorrow of the group.
I don't remember the band Joanne - but what a great photo and what a coup at that age getting your photos featured in a magazine! I look forward to more of your photos from that era (which is mine too)!
@kellc Not many people do remember them...that's ok...the 80s music scene was " Here to day..Gone tomorrow." It was a great high to have a photo in a music mag. :)
I've not heard of that group either, but I think I was more of Duran Duran kind of girl, rather than heavy metal. Love the long hair and the 80's look though
@bardejov I started my interest in Photography when I was 9 years old...after my Mum brought a Polaroid camera for me one Christmas....and the passion is still as strong today. :)
So much to say! This guy is very much similar to Slash of Guns n Roses. I was a HUGE fan of them and still get nostalgic if a song happens to play on the radio.
Also, you currently have a "lab" in your house? I've inherited all of my dad's developing goods, enlarger, etc. I've read up on developing, and he plans to walk me through a couple rolls. Where do you buy your chemicals and such? Any tips? I plan to do it in my basement bathroom.
@cmc1200 Your basement/bathroom will be perfect. This was in the 80s/90s that I had my home lab....I also worked for Kodak at the time and had all the chemicals I needed. You should look on the net as it's hard to find them in the shops now that digital has taken over. Hope this helps. If you need any more info ...just let me know as I could go on and on about film. :)
In that time, I was 15...three years later guns N' roses came in to my life :D
great shot, love your PoV and the b&w!
