I missed the setting I wanted in the camera and ended up doing this shot in the "watercolour" mode. Which turned out kind of interesting. So, here it is: a watercolour three-wheel car, parked in the middle of town. With this, I am also tagging it for the mundane-wall challenge.
As always, I very much appreciate your views, comments, critique, favs and reactions. Thank you very much!
Vera, this is SO cool! Love the red car against the minimal background, and the composition and shapes. Great capture--this car could not have been positioned more perfectly!
This works really well especially when viewed large on black. Your treatment emphasises the graphic elements in the image especially on the red care. That red car and its position within the frame really makes the image
@eyesmile I know, Gena! It's very cool when it happens. By the way, most of my shots that ever got on Popular Page were more or less acts of desperation in the last moment or borderline accidents (or maybe just strikes of genius!!!! :) )
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting! I am glad you enjoyed the picture - and YES! I was excited to find this red little three-wheeled car parked in the bright sun right at the spot it was.
@oly :) Happy accident indeed. I did take the "regular" shot afterwards, but it didn't turn out as eye-catching as this one. The details and the texture on the wall just distracted me too much.
@isimo Among the "creative" settings on Sony Alpha 6000 there are many options that let you take pictures in a certain "style" - like black and white high contrast, or on the opposite - tone-rich black and white. There is a miniature setting, a toy camera, selective color, color pop (just makes it very vibrant). The two most "intrusive" ones are "watercolour" and something like the comics. It just gets rid of pretty much all the little details and noise, and makes it look like a painting. With the "comics" one it also draws black outlines around all the shapes it recognises. It really does a nice job, but one gets tired of it very fast :) Good for special occasions.
Absolutely love this! Fav. It's a great composition in its own right and I love the watercolour effect. I know what you mean about getting tired of the special effects though - I'm trying to consider when they really add something to the picture. Which they seem to here - making us focus right in on the cool colour & shape of the car :)
@bob65 Thank you Bob! I am glad you find the picture appealing. And I agree - that red car was just in a wonderful place to make the image interesting. I think we all need more red three-wheeled electric cars just standing around town. :)
@vstap@777margo Thank you! That car first attracted me because it was just a three-wheeler, and then I was walking away and just turned around to see this! :) One more proof - turning around pays off!
I love this, it is a fantastic composition and the in-camera filter has worked really well It has also made me think. I have a camera with an Effects menu and I do use it but only for the High Contrast B&W, when shooting street photos mainly. I am going to look at the Effects with a fresh eye now and challenge myself to use more of the Effects in a constructive and creative and intentional way instead of dismissing them out of hand. Thanks for making me think.
