I don't think either words or the hundreds of pictues I took today can even describe the day.... It was Switzerland from A to Z in short 24 hours!
- Checking the weather if it if worth going up to a montain top, and then deciding to follow the "Swiss motto" we saw on the postcard today "No risk - no fun!" (spoiler - weather cooperated!)
- Taking a boat over the beautiful lake Lucerne with stunning scenery.
- Taking world's steepest cog railway all the way to the top of Mount Pilatus
- Having snowball fights in May.... for hours....
- Watching the mountain climbers coming up the mountain in the fields of snow,
- Taking a breathtaking ride with a hanging gondola down to the valley.
- (Kids) playing at an awesome adventure playgroun half way down, with stunning mountain scenery around.
- Going out for a (overly) traditional Swiss meal of cheese fondue in the evening (that comes with "whether you want it or not" Swiss folklore show
- Listeing to yodelers, musicians, all kinds of instruments including a a) metal ball in a pot, b) a saw, c) a series of bottles half-filled with water, c) alpine horns and other traditional instruments etc,,,
- Kids actually trying out alpine horns on stage - and they both produced some sound!
All in all - an asweome day. And here is one shot of many, with a little drama filter added to highlight the clouds that provided some stunning play of light and shadows today in the mountains.
By the way - in the lower left corner is the rail for the trains that take you up the mountain.
Wow Vera, what a day indeed. I'm so glad you made it and had fun. Your description of all the adventures and the "overly" traditional dinner made me smile. Just on little note, the "ball" in the bowl (Talerschweingen) is actually a "fünfliber" a 5.-- CHF coin, embossed before 1968 (silver). If you could get the right move it rolls inside the bowl and produces the according tonal sound to the music.
Have a safe trip to Italy today. And have fun!
What a magnificent view, complete with craggy mountains, textured clouds and snow in May! Another action-packed day... sounds like it was really amazing. Your shot is so "Swiss." Lovely.
When we moved back here, I really missed those awesome playgrounds. Didn't care for the safety trade-off. Have to say that snow-fields are not my favorite aspect of S-land.
