I liked this challenge from April @aecasey to take some night or some blue hour photographs! It was a great excuse to say "Sorry, husband, you are putting the kids to bed today. I need to take night shots". I hope my next challenge would be "take photos in a bar at night", or "take photos at a night dance club" or "take photos at a late-night movie" :)
On a serious note - I decided to take advantage of all those palaces around us, and spent quite a bit of time at the Monrepos palace near Ludwigsburg, first taking some shots where the palace was not lit and it was quite light, and then as it got darker, the lights went on. This one I liked the most - it was the first photo with the lights, and the sky was quite light shortly after the sunset, so you see more of the foreground and see more overall, before everything turned into a dark silhouette.
As always, I look forward to your comments and visits! Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your kind responses! I am glad you enjoyed the picture - and I am glad I was "encouraged" to go out at night and actually take a picture of it!
@pistache Hi Clare! Thank you for your positive reaction. Yes, I did pull out the tripod, but the main outcome of the whole thing was finding out that my tripod is unusable more or less. It's a 20$ or so "thing" that I can't really adjust well even if I wanted, so it was rather limiting in terms of composition, as it took so much time to "fight" it and the light was going away fast. I think I will haver to put a "decent tripod" request on my birthday list. But once arranged, it did the job of holding the camera still for 8 sec exposure, and I did the 10-sec delay so that I don't move the camera when I push the button. It was helpful too that there was absolutely no wind - both with reflections and also with the camera movement.
Thank you all so much for enjoying the picture! We are surrounded by beautiful architecture that was meant to be beautiful just by itself, but with the evening skies and a warm lighting it just breathtaking. So, I was very happy about this challenge, and about the result as well. I am glad you liked it too.
@bob65 Thank you, Bob! It was very interesting to see through the series of shots how the light changes every minute! Not something you notice usually, unless you are taking pictures and the light is so important.
