Trying to decide what to take as today's photo, I started following the cat around....well, the dogs wouldn't leave me alone and then they spotted the cat so, that was no go....so, I went to try and take some photos of the horses or the cows. Well, I just didn't capture anything that I was super excited about and I was running out of time...had to leave for work. So, I started own the road and surprise....I spotted this feller on a post. I hurried up and turned my truck around, adjusted my camera, turned the radio off, rolled the window down and was ready to fire off a quick shot because I was sure he'd fly as soon as I stopped the vehicle and was afraid I couldn't get as close on foot. He was facing the woods when I first stopped but as soon as he realized I was there, he turned....and I got this shot. What a perfect morning and a great way to start the day!!!
This is a wonderful shot. I've been following one around trying to get a shot but he always flies. What out for the cat. Owls around here pick up cats as prey.
I spotted this on the new faces page and had to take a closer look. OMG what a shot, you are so lucky, I only dream of a shot like this. I will now wipe up my drool and go on my way LOL looking forward to seeing more.
This is a beautiful shot. I have a pileated that I took leaning over my friend out the passenger window of my van. You got a beautiful pose and the clarity and texture of his features is beautiful. What lens were you using?
@onepicatatime Thanks and I'm in Missouri.
@catwhiskers Thanks!! Still one of my fav's....it was such a surprise and a perfect way to start my day that day!
