The Trouble With Windows

Two birds, at different times have left their mark...happily, I can report that they both sat there on the ground shaking their head and the next time I looked, they had flown away.
Ouch!

Oh buddies...frozen birdies. Poor things. Glad they flew off. We had a cool thing happen with a robin this year, did you see that? But sometimes they die:(.

I really worry when birds fly into my windows. I'm always happy when they get up and fly away.

I hate it when that happens! Most of the time they're able to fly off, but those few times they can't is awful!
January 8th, 2015
WOW...looks like it was a disaster. Glad to hear they are okay and hope they learned their lesson. :)

Wow!

Glad they are okay but the window will need to be replaced

It's so alarming when this happens. Relieved they are okay.

We have three windows in our cathedral ceiling and every now and then I hear a clunk! and know that some poor little bird thought it was a wide open space. Most of the time they are unharmed but every once in a while, they're going too fast and then they're gone! So glad the ones who left these marks lived to tell of their "ordeal"!

I can't figure out why they do that! Our windows are not clean so it can't be they are confused with what they see!

1 time a humming bird flew into our window and it got knocked out and was lying in the geranium bed. I went out and dropped a few drops of water on it and it came to and flew away.

Awesome picture.

Amazing that they survived. The photo lets your imagination fill in the blanks. Ouch.

@bkbinthecity the window is fine...just needs to be washed now.
January 8th, 2015
Oh no! That happens quite often here too.
January 8th, 2015
Oh yes. Every now and then we hear a "crash", and a bird has hit our window. Scary. They all seem to survive. They must go away with a massive headache, however! (Right now our windows are so dirty the birds have got to see them in time.. .... My excuse for not washing the windows. Save the birds!

I know what you mean we always have them flying into our two big picture and bay windows on the south side of our house. I put snowflake decals in the windows this winter and that seems to have helped.

We keep having this problem too since we got new windows and took down the blinds. May have to put the blinds back up. Our birds were not so lucky: (

Somehow I can't seem to find your address. I'm going to spend a night near government camp this coming weekend in hopes of getting some snow shots and some stars over mt hood shots to celebrate my birthday. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions re spots to do some night shooting that don't require skiing nor have too much noise pollution. I've missed connecting with you. Jgpittenger@yahoo.com
