Paimpont Village - La Porche by vignouse

Paimpont Village - La Porche

This is the entrance to the village of Paimpont but was originally the entranceway to the grounds of Paimpont Abbey. The building through which the passageway passes was built in the 17th C and is known as La Hotellerie; it was used to house visitors to the Abbey. The Abbey itself is at the end of the street to the right and can't be seen from this PoV.

Best viewed large if you can spare the time.

Magnificent in black and white! It's both inviting and foreboding. I'm very much enjoying these tours around the village. Thank you for sharing.

Fabulous - love it!

Looks great in b&w...it really brings out the textures. Particularly like that cloudy grey sky after leaving the timbers of the entranceway behind.

@tosee @tryingforsighs @lindacarol @anelim @louuncouth @lab4693 @aecasey @kiwiniknak Thank you all for your kind comments - they are very much appreciated even if not fully deserved ;-) I am feeling a bit more confident about B&W shots now... but still a long way to go! Good luck with all your projects.

Okay, leading lines, diagonal lines you got it going on. Great comp. And good use of bw. I'm responding to everyone because I haven't taken a picture. Hoping Two will do something adorable.

Great composition, and even though I am a person who loves color, I do prefer this one in B&W.

great framing and use of b&w - like the way you've exposed for the stone and the village

This is a fabulous shot. It really draws the eye in.

This is much more timeless. It's easy to overlook the cars and wonder if this was taken before or after WWII. I like this framing better, too, I like the detail of the brick/stone street in the foreground.

Best viewed small to my eye. The large view removes some of the mystery as to what lies at the far end.
February 10th, 2014
@vignousefollower No mystery - it's the village square and the Tourist Office... tnx for the Fav.
