Taken this evening on my way to photoclub in a neigbouring small town: this was shot to explore low-light/high ISO for week 5 of B&W Bookclub. The shot was taken hand-held at an ISO of 6400 and processed in Lightroom.
@longexposure I was pleasantly surprised at the relatively low level of noise, what was there was easily dealt with in Lightroom. I don't know whether Nikon is better than Canon for low noise; the Canon 5D Mk III has a tremendous reputation in this respect. Whatever, I'm too invested in Nikon to change now!
You know it looks like a set and you expect to see the characters slowly wander in. Great job. I love your black & whites but will be happy to see color again.
@joansmor Thank you Joan; as you know, I was feeling more than a little apprehensive at the beginning of the month but as the weeks have passed and the shots have piled up, I'm feeling much more at ease working in monochrome... I'm even beginning to really enjoy it!
@dtigani Thank you very much David for your thoughtful comments and your favs. I forgot to do two things with this before I posted it: add some clarity to bring out the texture in the stonework more and lift the exposure on the hanging sign to make it more visible. But it was only a minute or two before midnight and I was rushing to get the shot posted on the day!
