... today is a public holiday in France and when a holiday falls on a Thursday, it is common for people to "faire le pont" - bridge the gap between the public holiday and the weekend by also taking the Friday off, so that they can get away for a 'long weekend'. At such times, our little village has more than its fair share of visitors and today was no exception.
Unfortunately, the afternoon and early evening were windy and rainy, discouraging many visitors from venturing out to eat. This is my preferred watering hole - butchers, bar and restaurant in one - which would normally be busy. But this evening at 10.00pm there was - as the French say - "Pas un chat"... 'not (even) a cat' to be seen in the village.
Many thanks for teaching me some more French with this! It rained in Paris too. Two bank holidays in two weeks and rain both times! I love this shot, great use of the starlight filter and very moody contrast! :) - Lucy
@fishers Je vous en prie, mademoiselle! No starlight filter Lucy, it's simply the effect of using a small aperture to capture a point light source - this was the effect I wanted, which is why I stopped down.
Works well in b&w, congrats on PP.
