NF-SOOC-September - Day 5: Cameleon mushroom by vignouse

NF-SOOC-September - Day 5: Cameleon mushroom

This is my fifth image for NF-SOOC-September. What's that all about? Well it's a challenge I've set myself - and hopefully some of my fellow 365ers will join me - to shoot only with a 50mm (or equivalent) lens in September and to post all images as they came out of the camera without any other processing or cropping. You can read about it here - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/23475/back-to-basics-who-s-up-for-a-big-challenge-in-september

How about joining me?

This has not been the ideal week to start a fairly testing challenge as I have had very little time for photography. Things should change from tomorrow so you can expect to see more variety in my challenge images. In the meantime, I hope you won't mind one more mushroom picture or, rather, toadstool picture: I liked this one because it looks like the fungus has taken on the colours of its surroundings - perhaps it has.
I love the muted tones and softness but also the little fungi and its camouflage magic hahaha

You have managed to get some great detail out of this one. I had a crazy day too, and haven't had a go yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Beautiful macro. Such nice detail.

I usually resort to mushroom hunting when I've run out of ideas. Obviously none of them turned out this cool or I would have posted them!! I really like the aperture setting you chose for this. And the monotone.

Hi, Richard. I really missed se7en this week and I've been having a week off and generally going to have a lazy 365 September - so won't join you in 50mm SOOC. But sttill enjoying following your 50mm month.

Your eye would be looking around constantly for the right subject to use your 50mm. I don't have lens so can just admire what you find like this!

The tones in this are lovely Richard. I was thinking wow, there's a new fungus I've never heard of! Hope to get camera out and have a go tomorrow.

Beautiful! I love the purplish light. I can almost smell the mushrooms!

@jocasta Hi Joy - I understand; I knew that I would miss the 'push' of se7en so that was one of the reasons I started this challenge. It will be good for you to have a little break and you'll come back to us all refreshed in October. You take care, you hear?

I get fascinated by your dof. Something I so want to get figured out. It's like you have this perfect ring around the toad stool.

Tom
Richard I assume the 50mm challenge means no cropping !??

I'm enjoying your toadstool presentation. You have quite a variety growing around you. I like the lighting in this image; the fungi seems to be leaning towards the stronger light. There's a blush of blue or violet on this dome top.

love the focus with toadstool basking in its swath. LIke a line of light shining.

@tosee Correct Tom, no cropping... and it's soooo hard to resist!
