Paimpont Forest - all 48,000 acres of it - takes on a different aspect every day, sometimes every hour, depending on the light and the weather. This image reflected in a puddle of rain-water encapsulated the mood of the forest today perfectly... the more so flipped as here!
@rachelwithey Rachel, you are a super-star! It didn't occur to me to flip this image, but after you mentioned it, I just had to try it and I was so astonished at the difference, I just had to post the flipped version. Thank you for the inspiration.
Very striking shot. It feels very disorienting to me. I don't know if that was your intent, but it forces my eye to linger a bit longer than I would on a typical landscape.
@ksyvarth Reflected images often have this effect - the refractive index of water produces a sort of semi-fisheye view. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... I thought that it worked well here.
Looking for what is reflection and what is "real". Water reflections are not possible here in Maine at this time. 4F this morning warming to a balmy 14F. So I'll enjoy this little respite from the freeze and see what unique things I can find.
Richard you fooled me until i read your tittle and commentary. What i initially saw was you on the bottom of this steep hill shooting up to the top!! Lovely shot, i love those shot when one has to figure out what is going on in a photo. Fav !!
That is stunning Richard. At first I thought you were down at the bottom of a bank looking up until I read your post. Then I looked at it again and realised what a cracking illusion you had captured. Fav
Love the tones. I would buy it and hang it on my wall.
