Sandbox365: Textured Reflections

This is a first try at the Sandbox365 Textures challenge. I thought I would have a bit of fun with this, so what we have here are two textures that nature provided, but in different ways.

The image is a reflection of trees bordering Beauvais Lake in Paimpont Forest: the image is flipped and cropped leaving only the reflection. The surface of the lake was covered with a band of algae, floating twigs, dead leaves and the like, all of which, together with the wind-blown ripples, create natural textures in the image.

The second texture is a close-up of moss plantlets which I desaturated and blended with the image of the trees - you can see this texture more plainly in the sky, which is what I wanted. This is my first ever attempt at incorporating a texture in an image - I'm reasonably happy for a first try.

Views nicely on black too!
I think this worked well Richard.

there is a desire to think, looking at this picture

It does slow me down, lots to ponder. On black even better.

Love the textures on this b&w Richard, very interesting and makes you check out what you did!

Somewhat complex, but the line of vegetation (moss?) across the frame serves to pull it together I think. I like the result.

Is that the third Sony I see you shooting with here Richard? I like the "M" as in incredibly small form factor for such a large and well developed sensor.

Love this, excellent processing

@frankhymus Thanks Frank, it certainly is a busy image but I wanted to try the two texture ideas together. The 'line of vegetation' is algae floating on the surface of the lake. As to the Sony RX100 - you actually commented on it earlier this month, I believe you said a friend or yours has one which he uses all the time. This one was a combined Christmas and 70th birthday gift from Mrs S as I wanted a small but high quality camera that I could carry with me all the time. I'm delighted with the image quality it produces.

It reminds me of a very old photograph that maybe had some water damage done

This is an interesting first try with good results. Tomorrow I'll read again how you accomplished this.........it's late here!

I'm in awe Richard. This year I hope to up my level of processing. I looked closely at the sky as you suggested and can indeed see your wonderful work.

Yes, one can almost see the water. I love the starry shapes in the sky-algae. Keeps them just the other side of being clouds. The whole picture has a very pleasing light touch to it.

@francoise Thanks Françoise, you seem to have liked it more than most. The starry shapes in the sky are the moss plantlets from my texture layer.
